Supported Independent Living (SIL)

Supported Independent Living (SIL) is the support and supervision of daily tasks so you can develop essential skills and live as independently as possible. SIL services are provided to participants at home, whether it’s their home or a private rental. We tailor our service to your needs and can provide as little or as much support as you request.

Cairns Better Care gives you total control and choice that allows you to manage what supports your receive and when you receive it. Supports can fit-in with your lifestyle without causing any inconveniences. We can create a schedule with you to book-in times of the day or week you require assistance and we will roster suitably qualified support staff to drop-in to provide specific support at specific times or if you have complex needs we can have support staff available to you at all times.

Assistance provided to a participant will be included as part of their plan depending on the level of support they require to live independently in the housing option of their choice. Everyone with mental illness and disabilities are unique and therefore has different support requirements.

There are three levels of support that SIL is funded under by the NDIS:
